LEDVANCE modernizes sports lighting for broadcasts at the Madrid WiZink Center

Custom lighting system enhances the overall experience, meets requirements for broadcasts, and reduces maintenance efforts With a capacity of up to 18,000 spectators, the WiZink Center is one of the most important venues for cultural and sporting events in Madrid. It is also home to the basketball teams CB Estudiantes and Real Madrid Baloncesto. In order to continue meeting the requirements of the Basketball World Federation (FIBA) for hosting international competitions, the arena's lighting needed modernization to provide a court focused, NBA-style lighting solution that would enhance the experience of the players and the audience. Garching-based lighting expert LEDVANCE has developed a new lighting system with custom LED projectors that not only comply with all FIBA and EUROLEAGUE regulations but also significantly improve the lighting experience at sporting events while considerably reducing maintenance efforts.

LEDVANCE launches NATURELOOP product range with recycled materials

First wave of all-new lamps and luminaires with at least 40 percent recycled plastics to be available in stores and online as of Mid-November. With the launch of its new NATURELOOP product range, LEDVANCE presses ahead with its LEDVANCE LOOP concept of transforming the lighting industry into a greener one. The all-new lamps and luminaires are made of at least 40 percent post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastics based on the plastic content of the product. Also, less CO2 is released during production compared to previous products. The first luminaires from the range are damp proof models as they mostly consist of plastics and thus offer the biggest opportunity for replacement with PCR materials. The six new products will be available in stores and online from January 2024. Before that, customers will be able to select from 20 new lamp types, coming to stores and to the LEDVANCE online shop in Mid-November.

LEDVANCE awarded with EcoVadis silver medal for sustainability efforts

Increased ratings in all four subcategories compared to last year Garching-based lighting expert LEDVANCE has been awarded a silver medal from EcoVadis for its sustainability performance in 2023. To evaluate its sustainability efforts and achievements and make them visible to all stakeholders, LEDVANCE has been using EcoVadis sustainability ratings since 2018, which assess performances in the areas of “Environment”, “Labor & Human Rights”, “Ethics” and “Sustainable Procurement”. Due to the company’s increased efforts to implement a global and holistic approach to sustainability through additional measures (e. g. by joining and committing to additional sustainability initiatives like SBTi, implementing a global sustainability strategy and new policies in several areas of the company, as well as publishing its first global Sustainability report), LEDVANCE improved its score in total and in all four subcategories compared to the previous year. Overall, LEDVANCE achieved a score of 65 (PY 62) out of 100 in the final report for this year. As with last year, this corresponds to an EcoVadis silver medal.
